Upstairs Sitting Room

Since the room was decorated in provincial furniture/fabric, I wanted to introduce a village vignette appropriate for the decor.
The music "Silent Night" seemed fitting.
Claradell wallpapered and made drapes, pillows, etc. Since the decor is traditional, I wanted to utilize a miniature village that offered a provincial feeling. The solution was the Alpine Village: St. Nickolaus Kirche, circa 1818. The small baptistry-shaped building is the original church and is a music box which plays "Silent Night". It was at this church location that "Silent Night" was first sung.

The Silent Night Chapel (Stille-Nacht-Kapelleis) located in the town Upper Village in the Austrian province of Salzburg and is a monument to the Christmas carol "Silent Night" and its librettist, Joseph Mohr and composer, Franz Xaver Gruber. It stands in place of the former St. Nicholas Church, where on 24 December 1818 the Christmas carol was performed for the first time.
